Loss

“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending." -C.S. Lewis

Loss can happen due to any event in one’s life where a void has been created.  Emotional loss can come from the death of a loved one, divorce, death of a pet, unemployment, end of a dream, loss of health, empty nesting, Covid-19, traumatic event, or any other unwanted or unexpected change of any kind.

Experiencing loss leaves the kind of soul-sucking vacuum that makes one feel like their heart has been pulled from their chest. It can be physically hard to breathe, cause extended periods of despair and keep individuals from moving forward in life and pursuing and realizing the hopes and dreams that once gave fuel and excitement for life.

Our processing or lack of processing grief and loss can show up at inopportune times through unexpected tears, bouts of anger, fear, anxiety, and the like. Often, a person exhibiting emotional outbursts or anti-social behavior is, in fact, suffering from unresolved grief due to an emotional loss.

Maybe you can relate. You may have tried all types of therapy, medication or suffered through “letting time heal all wounds.” If this sounds like the road you have traveled and still have found no peace for your weary soul, maybe it is time to try grief coaching.
